ARTIST STATEMENT
I AM AN ARTIST AND A RESEARCHER

ARTIST

I started with oil painting, and have now shifted to using mixed media. I love to experiment: the joy and energy of working with them are critical to everything I do.

An essential component of my visual art is the creation of different levels of meaning: emotional, figurative, metaphorical, symbolic, and philosophical, among others.

I appreciate when text can add its own value to a work, instead of merely explaining the visual.

For the last several years, I have tried various combinations of painting, video, statistical data, ready-made objects, live substances, recycling art, Paintings_Dresses, VR and performative sand art at the seashore.

My themes multiply and unfold in different ways. I search for connections to the past, the present and the future; mythology, human feelings, discoveries and new journeys, new worlds and planets, and the beauty of nature revealing in detail.

RESEARCHER

Some of my research is visual and could be parts of/or the whole art projects.

The themes of my academic research are related to art as a form of communication. Multi- and mono-disciplinary, diversity in themes and messages in various art techniques.

Also I am interested in creativity and novel approaches in design, advertising and PR, art collaborations of different kinds and personal branding of modern artists.

    ISLANDS SERIES
    SINCE 2020

The Island series has been started during the lockdown. Occasionally I've realised that the time which I spent in a studio painting the seashore was perceived as a walk on the beach. So it has become the only possible way of travelling at that time and has been felt like a sea therapy.

That's so great that in your reality you can transfer yourself to the place where you feel happy with a beautiful and peaceful view.

Also they harmoniously blended with The Exotic Series of self-portraits.

    ARBOR MUNDI POLYPTICH
    Installation comprises:
The mosaic polyptych (30 pieces), oil on canvas, 250x300cm (50x50cm each) on the wall.

The video installation (located 4 metres from the polyptych) – the same size as polyptych (250x300cm) projected from the same wall to a rear projection screen of plexiglass +a photo camera connected with a photo button that could be pressed by the audience while they are standing in front of a polyptych in the same position as Adam and Eve have at the artworks (represented in the video)

The new video about Arbor Mindi in XXI century has been created with those photos.
Time: The 3 min slideshow of the first people - Adam and Eve of different authors, times and media in front of the polyptych

    ARBOR MUNDI
    Concept

From the beginning of human history, people have felt that they are not alone in the universe. There is something above us: higher reason, nature, God or something else. Something that could hardly be explained. Maybe higher forces observe us and show us their presence.
In every culture, people try to explain phenomena of nature through images which could be intelligible to them.

By researching the mythology of different nations, we note the uniqueness and the unity of their understanding of the world in ancient times. It's like the same story, told by different people, which acquires special details because of each person's personality, location, and experience but still reflects the same core.

The story about Adam and Eve and The Paradise Tree (The World Tree, Arbor Mundi, The Tree of Life) is one of the most ancient stories in the world. The Tree of Life could be an apple tree or a palm, an oak or a sequoia, an antiar or a sycamore. The first people made of clay or dust have various names and skin colours.

    MAZE LOST AND FOUND
    5D-LIVE INSTALLATION
    2018
The 5-D LIVE Installation MAZE LOST&FOUND interacts with the audience in different levels: visual, audio, kinesthetic, olfactic, cultural, symbolic and emotional.
The ready-made "lost" objects and small-size paintings are integrated in the live-grass and blossoming flowers environment. The live-grass-maze referred to a verdant hedge labyrinth with its long history in a garden design and at the same time to a children's play. The core message of the installation involves evolving and changing, which reflect the everlasting circle of life.

THE JOURNEY TO THE NEW MOON

    | Google Tilt Brush | Photo | Gif | Video | 3DVR Space |
THE JOURNEY TO THE NEW MOON
The Journey to the New Moon is The Space Mission of exploring of The New Moon, a planet which newly emerged in the distance of 70 000 light-years away in the constellation of Taurus.

THE SNEW MISSION (South)North)East)West) was launched in 2018 with its major goal of collecting data about the surface of the New Moon and making analysis if this planet could be habitable for human beings.

The first spaceship with its 4 explorobots made a lodgment in the location which provides easy access to each of 4 destinations for an analogous distance.

The full dossier will be regenerated in VR and sent to the Earth.

As much as the next research, it has optional extra correlated with space observation.
THE JOURNEY TO THE NEW MOON
The name of the planet refers to the naming customs with its intention to remind people their motherland as well as to declare the similarities of both areas.

In the present case the main correspondence with the Moon represented by the several physical parameteres of THE NEW PLANET, which are identical to the lunar ones.
    snew explorobotics
    THE MOON
    &
    THE NEW MOON
    Identical Physical Characteristics

    Mean radius 1737.1 km
    Equatorial radius 1738.1 km
    Surface area 3.793x107 km2
    Mass 7.342x1022 kg
    Volume 2.1958x1010 km3
THE JOURNEY TO THE NEW MOON
The Journey to the New Moon is also a reflection upon the nature of exploration.

From the beginning of its history the humanity aimed to expand their territories by conquering the new lands and peoples, domesticating plants and animals.

What are our intentions in the roaming in the outer space?

Are they the same as the Conquistadors' who colonized more than the half of the world in the Age of Discovery?

Or as the Christians who propagated their religion by fair means or foul?
THE JOURNEY TO THE NEW MOON
Are we welcoming guests in the other Galaxy?

What are our expectations? Will we be greeted as friends or enemies?

Would it be a guest visit or an invasion?

Who and how will meet us-aliens and would they be happy about our desire making a settlement in their home place?
    | Sand Art | Performance | 2019 | Cyprus | Sea shore |
    SEA. SAND. LOVE.
Sea. Sand. Love. My first personal peformative practice was launched in the beginning of 2019 on Cyprus on the sea shore of Mediterranean sea, on the island of Love, the motherland of the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty Aphrodite.

This performance could be the renewal of the ancient custom of bringing the gifts to the Gods.
    SEA. SAND. LOVE.
One of the most fascinating things was the unpredictability, like in the real life. You never know how much time do you have, will you finish the drawing or the next wave will blot it out.

Maybe it will linger on for the week or maybe the surf will make you to precise the drawing so far as it will be plenty good enough for the gift for the Sea Gods.
Since my childhood I was in love with Greek myths and legends, I was excited about all these stories about the Gods, heroes and magical creatures, in which people of ancient Greece tried to explain natural phenomena and the origin of existing things.
    SEA. SAND. LOVE.
The story of Eros and Psyche has caught my attention when
I've seen the amazing painting by Francois Gerard in the Instagram of Le Louvre. I realized that I remember the heroes but couldn't memorize the whole story.
    SEA. SAND. LOVE.
The god of love and desire Eros married the human princess Psyche (the soul), therefore she became immortal and joined the Olympic Gods. The happy couple have the only child Hedone (the Goddess of pleasure, enjoyment, and delight).
    SEA. SAND. LOVE.
The legend of Eros and Psyche maybe one of few happy love stories in Greek mythology. Of course, it wasn't that easy and they went through the envy and jealousy of their relatives, who threw obstacles in their way.
The symbols of the images are very meaningful.
Could it be the ancient formula of immortality and delight, when love and soul create the alliance?

From June 6 to June 12, the LUXURY class ship "Alexander Grin" will make a thematic "Artistic Cruise" along the route: Moscow - Uglich - Yaroslavl - Kostroma - Plyos - Rybinsk - Myshkin - Kalyazin - Dubna - Moscow.
The trip will take place as part of a joint project of the Moscow River Shipping Company and ANO Cultural Bridge "Traveling Exhibitions" with the support of the Russian Academy of Arts, called Art in Motion. Exhibitions of paintings will once again open on board the ship.
This time the guests of the cruise will be
ZHGIVALEVA MARINA from Yaroslavl and ALLEXANDRA (Alexandra Osipova) from Moscow.
The artists will present their works, as well as engage in plein-air painting at the ship's moorings, where they will share their creative secrets.

ZHGIVALEVA MARINA is a participant of more than 100 Russian, foreign and international exhibitions. Her paintings sparkle with warm tones, as if painted by the rays of the sun. The master's works are presented in galleries around the world: Finland, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, China, Japan, Belgium, Spain and the USA.

ALLEXANDRA (Alexandra Osipova) - finalist of the 16th international art competition "ARTE LAGUNA PRIZE 21.22" in Venice. The artist's canvases are literally woven from bright colors and clear shapes. The paintings of this master are in private collections in Russia, France, Belgium, Ukraine and Latvia.

After all, art is not only the movement of a brush on a canvas, but also the movement of our ship along a meandering riverbed.
We invite you to join us on an "Art Cruise" aboard our ship.

          SUMMER FOREVER
Summer Forever opens on the 1st of March – at the end of the Russian winter, when everyone is tired from the cold and began to dream about the summer. Nevertheless, snow and -25 degree weather reign outside the
          window.

The 5-D LIVE installation MAZE LOST&FOUND becomes the landmark of the exposition space, interacting with the audience on different levels: visual, audio, kinesthetic, olfactory, cultural, symbolic and emotional.
The readymade "lost" objects and small-size paintings are integrated in the live-grass and blossoming flowers environment. The live-grass-maze recalls a verdant hedge labyrinth with its long history in garden design
and, at the same time, a children's play. The core message of the installation involves evolving and changing, which reflect the everlasting circle of life.

Some of the objects (a lost earring, a shuttlecock) have their twins in the summer paintings that surround the installation. The sense of eternal summer is strengthened by the video of the first people interpreted by different artists from different times and techniques (painting, graphics, fresco, sculpture) in a Paradise garden.

          ARBOR MUNDI
          2017
          Open Club Gallery | Moscow
ARBOR MUNDI presents new works by Alexandra Osipova. Blossoming flowers are painted in ample detail and the composition is done in the style of macro photography. The point of view on the object is "from the bottom up," which in its turn fills the bigger part of the space and has its explicit shape on a neutral background, which is intended to highlight the minute details of the plant.

The conception of the exposition in Open Club Gallery is focused on its main piece — a polyptych called ARBOR MUNDI. In this project, the artist reconsiders a mythological archetype, which incarnates the universal concept of the world.

            Alexander Salenkov

NOVEL IN PAINTINGS. FEET IN THE CLOUDS
            2017
            RETROSPECTIVE
Theatre of Dramatic Art, Moscow, Russia
Alexandra Osipova's exhibit, "Novel in Paintings. Feet in the Clouds," unites 10 series of paintings created by the artist over the last 7 years.
The story is set in various places: Paris, Antwerp, the deserted beaches of Jurmala, a small town on the Spanish seashore, the North Sea dunes in Knokke and the summer in Moscow's suburbs. As in a literary novel,
it has leading and supporting characters, landscape descriptions, lyrical digressions and philosophical musings.

Alexandra's painting is akin to graphic art, with clear and bright colors. The details are interesting and carefully selected, and its autobiographical nature echoes Pablo Picasso's idea that painting is just another way of
              keeping a diary.
"Alexandra Osipova discovered her individual figurative painting style, where the scenographer's understanding of action and tempo-rhythm meets the painter's comprehension of the plane. The logic of forceful splashes of color and the collation of contrasts and consonances, volumes and planes impart an intention to the image and keep the viewer's attention. The artist's methods are the keys to recognizing her visual language, which works on the creation of an artistic image and an emotion."
